The department of economics with Islamic finance was established in the year 2015. The course is three years UG degree program offered by the University of Calicut. Department is offering various courses in economics by providing quality education in theoretical and practical aspects of the subjects. The syllabi are designed by meeting the growing demand of the economy and industry. It facilitates the opportunity for students to access higher studies in related areas and it enhances the capabilities of students to pursuing research in concerned area. In addition to conventional economic courses, the department also offering courses in Islamic Finance. It is a rapidly growing and popular area of study in current scenario. The department is offering many certificate courses in Economics and Islamic Finance too. The department of economics in Madeenathul Uloom Arabic College is a one of the popular destinations in the state which providing a course with University degree in this unique combinations of economics and Islamic Finance in aided stream. The department has highly qualified faculty members in the areas of economics and Islamic Finance with adequate teaching experiences and expertise.

Muhammed Ramees PK, Asst. Professor, published two Calicut University books titled Islamic Financial Institutions and Islamic Banking & Insurance for BA Economics with Islamic Finance, University of Calicut on December 2021 and January 2022 respectively
Muhammed Jamsheer, Asst. Professor has been elected to the editorial board of an international research journal, journal of economics, commerce and research. Scopus indexed, UGC Care listed and Web of science journal
